Trevor Travis, of Bayanan

Born three streets from the shop in 1979, Trevor has spent his whole working life on the motorcycles and tricycles that keep Muntinlupa moving.

A tricycle driver’s son

Trevor’s father drove a tricycle on the Bayanan–Alabang run for twenty-six years. Trevor rode in the sidecar to school, and by the time he was twelve he knew which sound meant a loose chain and which meant a dying clutch.

At fourteen he took a weekend job at a vulcanizing shop by the Bayanan market, patching tubes and changing oil. The owner, Mang Celso, let him take apart anything that came in broken, on one condition: it had to run again before closing. By the time Trevor was twenty, half the tricycles on his father’s line came to him when they wouldn’t start.

He never moved away. When people ask why the shop is on National Road and not in Alabang, his answer is that his customers live here.

From a parts stall to the showroom

The shop grew one bay at a time, paid for by the counter.

  1. 1993

    Starts at Mang Celso’s vulcanizing shop by the Bayanan market, aged fourteen.

  2. 2003

    Opens a parts stall on National Road: one counter, one shelf of CVT belts and brake shoes, and a repair bay out back.

  3. 2009

    Takes over the space next door and opens the showroom for pre-owned scooters and underbones.

  4. 2014

    Starts the in-house installment plan, so riders without a bank account can buy a bike too.

  5. 2018

    Adds the big-bike corner and a second service bay.

  6. Today

    Six bikes on the floor, a full parts counter, and Trevor behind the counter most mornings.

Who you’ll meet at the shop

  • TrevorOwner. Buys and checks every pre-owned bike, prices the parts and works the counter most mornings. Ask him about anything with a carburettor.
  • JoyCounter in the afternoons, installment applications and OR/CR transfers. She answers most of the texts.
  • RamilHead mechanic since 2011. The service menu, the tune-ups and the test rides on the big bikes.
